I've also been told this sounds like music for when the player accidentally eats a poison mushroom. My inspiration here was mainly Earthbound, such as the widely bent melodies, unusual instruments/changes, and the manipulation of panning (I use it very sparsely here, only in the lead oboe part to give a sort of confusing effect). Originally this was a very typical, and pleasant, house theme. It just lacked some weirdness.
